Why El Dorado?

Codes, Permits, Ordinances

One great advantage to doing business in El Dorado and Union County is the time it takes to complete the permit process. It generally only takes 2-3 days!

Whether you are looking to build a new facility or renovate an existing structure inside El Dorado city limits, you only need a few things.

1. If the job is over $120,000 you must have an architect plan registered with the State of Arkansas.

2. Submit proof that the plumbing has been approved by the Arkansas Department of Health Division of Plumbing.

3. Provide a survey of the property and documentation of the estimated cost of the project.

For commercial jobs over $20,000 you must have a business license.

All contractors involved must have a contractor's license.

Costs associated with obtaining a building permit:

Renovation:

First $50,000 of renovation cost the permit is $343
Anything over $50,000 there is also a charge of $4 per $1,000 of construction costs
Plus a tax of $.50 per $1,000 of construction costs

New Construction:

Based on square footage of building
First floor - brick, concrete, or stone $.12 per square foot
First floor - metal $.08 per square foot

Additional floors - $.05 per square foot

If you are looking to build outside El Dorado city limits, you do not have to have a building permit nor a business license. You only have to meet the Arkansas state guidelines.
